In response to the Covid-19 outbreak that is now affecting America, the Kering Group has announced in a press release its partnership with the CDC Foundation. The objective is to provide personal protective medical equipment and other medical supplies for U.S. health care workers.
Collectively, Kering and its Houses (Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Boucheron, …) are donating one million dollars to the CDC Foundation to support the medical staff.
The Group’s contributions follow on from those already made in France, Italy and China, with the aim of providing material aid and protecting healthcare personnel.
This donation will be used in particular in the states of the United States most heavily affected by the virus, such as New York, New Jersey, California, Florida and parts of Latin America.
The CDC Foundation (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) is an independent, non-profit organization created by the American Congress. Through “public-private” partnerships, it aims to extend the protective missions of the Centers for disease control and prevention.
The rapid spread of the virus in the United States and around the world is raising growing concerns about the capacity of the US health care system.
For example, CDC intervention funds are used to develop different ways to meet priority needs; but also to intervene when the necessary funds are not available or cannot be unlocked quickly enough.
Kering will also support the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund initiative “A Common Thread” as well as the local initiative launched by Kerby Jean-Raymond: “Your Friend in New York Want to Help“.
