The Kering Group announced on Thursday the acquisition of the Danish luxury eyewear manufacturer, Lindberg. The agreement was signed with a view to Kering Eyewear acquiring 100% of Lindberg’s capital.
Lindberg, a family business founded in 1969 in Denmark by Poul-Jørn Lindberg and his wife, has become particularly popular in the luxury eyewear sector thanks to the founders’ son, Henrik Lindberg, and is now present all over the world. Their promise? “High-end optical frames with a unique design, ultra-light and customizable, with a specialization in titanium frames.” The company’s followers include heads of state such as François Hollande, Queen Elizabeth II, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and celebrities such as Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Meryl Streep. The particularity of Lindberg is its choice not to affix any logo on the outside of the frame.
Henrik Lindberg, co-founder and CEO of Lindberg said, “We share with Kering the same vision of the essential place of design in our business. That is why the Lindberg family is very happy to pass the torch to Kering Eyewear. We are convinced that within the Kering group, whose values and vision of excellence we share, and under the leadership of Roberto Vedovotto, LINDBERG will be able to reach new heights, in keeping with its DNA.”
This acquisition marks a major turning point and an important step for the development of Kering Eyewear. This action reinforces Kering Eyewear’s position as a major player in the high-end eyewear sector, thanks in particular to the history and prestige already established by the House of Lindberg. Both companies will be able to benefit from each other’s strengths and enhance their potential.
