On the occasion of the International Education Day proclaimed by the United Nations to celebrate the role of education for peace and development, the LVMH Group recalled in an official statement published on Monday “the special place that this issue occupies in its societal commitments and those of the Houses”.

Throughout the world, LVMH is committed to providing access to higher education for all students, regardless of their family, social and cultural background.

Launched in 6 countries in Europe and open to more than 45 schools and universities, the INSIDE LVMH program enables students from partner schools and interns from the LVMH Group companies to deepen their understanding of professions and careers in the Luxury Goods industry. Thanks to exclusive video testimonials from LVMH Managers, this program offers an immersion in the heart of the Group’s 5 areas of expertise: Design and Creation, Brand Management, Supply Chain and Manufacturing, Digital Transformation & Entrepreneurship and Customer Excellence.

In Europe, the LVMH Institute of Excellence Professions is a work-study professional training program that enables the Group to ensure the transmission of its know-how in the crafts, design and sales professions to the younger generations, thereby developing their employability. Since its creation in 2014, more than 900 apprentices have joined the IME in France, Switzerland, Italy and Spain, in partnership with renowned schools in their respective disciplines.

In France, in 2020, the Group continued its partnership with the cities of Clichy-sous-Bois and Montfermeil, Parisian suburban towns with young and cosmopolitan populations. Driven by a shared ambition for excellence, this partnership is helping to facilitate the integration of young people from disadvantaged neighborhoods and social cohesion. It deploys a wide range of actions: “discovery of the company” internships offered to 108 high school students in 2020, visits to the Group’s companies, support for job search, etc. As an example, the national trade show presenting work-study positions offered by the Institute for Excellence in Trades was once again held in Clichy-sous-Bois on February 4, 2020. It attracted more than 1,000 visitors.

LVMH also sponsors the “Cultures and Creation Parade” in Montfermeil, which showcases the creative talents of the region. The Group trains young people upstream in Master Classes and organizes meetings with designers and artisans. It awards an “LVMH Young Talent CSR Prize” during the fashion show, which gives young people who are passionate about design but who are far from the world of fashion the opportunity to be recognized. Since the beginning of the program, several of them have joined the Houses on a work-study program alternating with training at the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. The 2013 winner was hired at the Haute Couture workshop of the House of Christian Dior.

In the United States, the Group is also committed to students, particularly those from disadvantaged communities in New York City and Miami. Live Chats”, in other words, exchanges on career opportunities, bring together young people and Group employees. In 2020, more than 2,500 young people participated in 20 sessions. Five of these sessions were organized in partnership with the United Way of NYC and Honey Shine associations, which support students at risk, whose families have also been the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In line with the Group’s vision, the Companies are forging numerous partnerships with schools near their sites or further afield.

For example, since 2009, Bvlgari has been supporting the Save the Children association to help children in difficulty around the world, primarily by giving them access to education. Over these 12 years of commitment, more than 1.5 million children have been able to build a better future. Nearly 80 million euros have been raised and 300 personalities have given their support to the actions implemented since the beginning of the partnership.

Since its creation in 2017, the Women@Dior mentoring program has continued to expand its scope to support young women in their careers. The goal of this program is to inspire female students from partner schools and universities of Dior and the LVMH group through the support of mentors working at the Fashion House. In 2017, Women@Dior will have 60 mentees from seven countries. In 2020, the program included 400 from thirteen countries and went even further by launching a new online training platform open to 500 students around the world, entitled “Women Leadership & Sustainability“.

In the United States, the historic Hennessy Fellows program, in partnership with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), offers financial assistance and tailored experiences (online training, immersive boot camp, networking…) to top-performing graduate students enrolled at historically black universities and colleges (HBCU) or predominantly black institutions (PBI), whose studies cover a variety of disciplines ranging from liberal arts to science and engineering.

In 2020, Acqua di Parma also launched its #SupportOurFuture campaign to support five associations working to educate young people in Germany, France, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom. To this end, the House will donate 100% of the net revenue from sales of the latest “Colonia Futura” collection generated on its website in December.
