June 24th marked the kick-off with the opening of admissions for the twentieth edition of the Swiss watchmaking contest GPHG, via a new dedicated digital platform. The deadline for registration is 31 July 2020. The list of winners will be unveiled on 12 November at the GPHG awards ceremony.

The aim of the GPHG is to highlight and reward the most remarkable creations each year, with a view to contributing to the influence of the art of watchmaking worldwide and to promoting the industry’s new products.

The GPHG Academy, which was set up at the beginning of 2020, has submitted a certain number of timepieces to the watch brands concerned, which may or may not validate the participation of the proposed watches and enter other pieces of their choice in the competition. However, all watch brands are entitled to register spontaneously on the dedicated platform.

The registration fee is CHF 500 per candidate watch.

The competing timepieces can be entered in one of the fourteen categories of the Grand Prix. The Grand Prix de l’Aiguille d’Or will be awarded to the best watch in all categories, judged to be the most representative of the watch industry.

This year a new prize will be awarded to a connected watch by the 350 members of the Academy and the Jury.
