The Milan Design Week, which takes place from June 6 to 12, will see Porsche take over the Palazzo Clerici with an installation by the artist Ruby Barber.

Milan Design Week, also known as Fuorisalone, is an annual event dedicated to the world of design alongside the Furniture Fair. And for its debut at Milan Design Week, Porsche chose the Palazzo Clerici for its installation “The Art of Dreams“. This historic building in the heart of the Brera district, renovated by Pritzker Prize winner James Stirling, was completely reopened for the first time during the last Milan Design Week and the Dior Medallion Chair exhibition.

Porsche wanted to explore the interaction between nature and technology and found the right person in Ruby Barber. The artist has created a sculptural artwork that combines the fragility of flowers with the promise of 21st century technology, with the installation coming to life for choreographed performances.

Ruby Barber is an Australian-born artist and floral designer who lives and works in Berlin and is also the founder of Mary Lennox Studio. Ruby Barber’s surreal arrangements create spaces between nature and architecture, between dream and reality. Her installations are modern and emotional, attracting an art-loving public, but also big houses, like Hermès or Cartier.

I am curious to explore the connections between nature and the modern human environment, the possible interactions between botany and technology are particularly intriguing to me. In this work, I dreamed of a place where the two worlds meet, merging the two to create a space for a new experience,” explains Ruby Barber.

This installation is the second work commissioned for “The Art of Dreams,” a global art initiative by Porsche that addresses the theme of dreams through various interactive art installations in major cities around the world. The initiative, which aims to inspire, convey optimism and contribute to the vitality of communities, was launched in Paris last October and continued in Singapore.

Exclusive events such as yoga classes will also be part of the program, as well as a secluded garden café in the second courtyard of the Palazzo, which will allow visitors to linger a while in this majestic place.
