More and more allies are joining the fight. In the midst of the global war against coronavirus, the British car manufacturer Jaguar Land-Rover has announced that it will make a fleet of 160 new-generation vehicles available to various health organizations around the world.
This is yet another demonstration of solidarity in a conflict that affects the entire planet. In these first days of April, the British group Jaguar Land-Rover has decided to help medical and rescue personnel by providing them with around 100 vehicles. These 4×4 vehicles and SUVs are perfectly adapted to emergency situations and will be used, in particular, to deliver medicines and food to the most vulnerable people.
“Jaguar and Land Rover will do everything possible to support people in need around the world. … We want to help people in the community, as close to home as possible. We can all play a role in helping fragile people during this global pandemic. ” These were the moving words of Finbar McFall, Jaguar-Land Rover’s Customer Experience Director.
The company, which has worked with the International Federation of the Red Cross for more than 65 years, has already delivered 57 cars, including 27 new Defenders, to the British Red Cross. Protective equipment – such as safety goggles – has been delivered to various hospitals in Great Britain. Red Cross units in Spain, France, South Africa and Australia are also involved in this generous loan.
The car manufacturer has also helped the Swiss Red Cross by supporting a free home delivery service : “In the current situation, people over 65 years of age are asked not to do the shopping themselves in order to protect themselves. The Swiss Red Cross and Coop are launching a free home delivery service to help them. […] Jaguar Land Rover Schweiz AG will support this free delivery service in Zurich and Olten by making Land Rover vehicles available. Other regions will follow. ” said the group in a press release dated April 1, 2020.
These new-generation vehicles, including the all-new Land Rover Defender, would have been used for the group’s press tests and other marketing operations, which were finally cancelled in the current context.
