The French jeweller Courbet, a producer of laboratory diamonds, announced on Monday, May 25 that it has raised more than 8 million euros. Several investors participated in this fund raising, including the Chinese communication agency Hylink Digital. The objective for the brand is to accelerate its development in France and internationally and to continue to finance its research in “ecological and technological jewellery”.
Less than two years after entering the jewellery market, the French company Courbet has just completed a new fund-raising operation of more than 8 million euros.
A substantial amount of money explained by the brand’s unique positioning: created in 2018 and presented as “the ecological jeweller of the Place Vendôme”, Courbet works exclusively with diamonds and stones grown in laboratories that have the same physical and chemical properties as those extracted from a mine, and recycled gold from electronic or industrial waste.
As an innovative start-up, Courbet is seen as a godsend for investors, which is why the young company completed a first fund-raising round with a major luxury group six months after its creation, and is now generating a turnover of several million euros after only two years of existence.
On Monday, May 25, the digital communication agency Hylink Digital joined the Courbet jeweller’s capital for an undisclosed amount.
A great honour for this agency, “the first independent in China“, which counts Estée Lauder among its clients: “We are honoured to have been invited to become a shareholder in Courbet. Courbet’s development potential in China is huge. The brand’s proposal meets the new expectations of Chinese consumers at a time when the country is becoming more aware of its environmental impact. We are more than ever at Courbet’s side to support it in its drive to conquer the Chinese market”, said Yuan Zou, Hylink’s European Development Director.
“Institutional investors” and “business angels“, including the venture capital fund Raise Ventures, also participated in this fund raising without giving further details, the company said in a press release.
This investment will enable Courbet to continue to expand the brand “in France and internationally“, and especially in China.
With this financial contribution, the jeweller wants above all to continue “to finance research in order to continue to play its role as a pioneer in ecological and technological jewellery and to invest in the research and production of French diamonds”, particularly through new technologies, the press release explains.
Indeed, Courbet has been claiming its ecological commitments since it was founded and in fact, presented a few months ago its very first Haute Joaillerie collection based on French-made laboratory diamonds.
This fundraising campaign will therefore enable the young brand from Place Vendôme to further support its environmental objectives and to develop responsible, ecological and ethical luxury, thus revolutionising the codes of world jewellery.
