Cointreau and SMEG join forces to create a promotional game

French spirits brand Cointreau has teamed up with Italian appliance manufacturer SMEG, with the aim of democratising cocktail making from home.

Cointreau, which markets the best-selling orange liqueur in France with 623,403 litres sold in 2020, has teamed up with SMEG, a brand specialising in household appliances, to respond to the current trend of making home-made cocktails.

The two brands share similar values, such as the desire to innovate and satisfy their customers, and thanks to their popularity, they are creating a competition to win SMEG blenders.

The mechanics of the competition

Running until 31 October 2021, each customer who buys a Cointreau bottle will be able to take part in the competition, thanks to the entry form on the bottle’s label. 55,000 bottles will be eligible for the offer.

The winner will have to go to www.cointreau.fr, fill in the registration form with his or her full contact details, upload proof of purchase and finally take part in the “Quiz” animation to find out what the prize is.

200 SMEG blenders worth €200 were entered into the competition, which could also be won by means of scratch cards distributed during the weekend events organised in shops. Cointreau and SMEG are planning to organise events and tastings of the famous frosted Margarita in order to attract more customers.

Rich in vegetal citrus notes and floral and fruity aromas, this cocktail is one of the easiest to make at home; hence the interest in organising this competition and these events. Cointreau and SMEG are both keen to encourage the making of cocktails at home, a convivial activity that bodes well in recent times.
