Christie’s Auction House opens the watchmaking season with a sale dedicated to exceptional timepieces, including three very rare Rolex creations, available until the end of March.
Christie’s will present more than 200 lots from leading watchmakers, including Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Richard Mille and many others.
Three exceptional models from Swiss watchmaker Rolex will be auctioned : The Rolex Daytona “Rainbow”, the vintage Rolex Daytona Ref. 6263 “Grand Rouge” and the Rolex Submariner COMEX Ref. 16800.
The Rolex Daytona “Rainbow” is named for its 36 rainbow sapphires set around the bezel and a case set with 56 diamonds. This is a very rare edition, which is why Christie’s has estimated it at between $300,000 and $500,000 (approximately €270,000 and €450,000).
Highly prized by watch collectors, the references 6263 and 6265 have only been produced in a scale of 24 pieces in twenty years. Equipped with the Valjoux 727 movement, the reference presented has a black metal bezel and a dial with the “Daytona” signature in red.
Finally, Christie’s will also present the reference timepiece for professional diving, the Rolex Submariner COMEX. For the record, COMEX selected this model because it met the most stringent technical and professional requirements of the professional deep-sea diver, after extensive studies.
