Chloé has definitely taken a turn towards eco-responsibility since 2020, and the brand’s actions have borne fruit: it has become the first luxury house to obtain B Corp certification, an attestation validating investment in social and environmental performance.

The B Corp certification assesses the social and environmental impact of brands, with over 300 questions on governance, workers, communities and respect for the environment. Chloé has achieved the distinction of becoming the first luxury fashion house to obtain this certification. It should be noted that about one in three companies obtain the certification after applying for it.

At Chloé, under the direction of Riccardo Bellini and art director Gabriela Hearst, the product is now made with low-impact materials from fair trade suppliers. For example, at this year’s Paris Fashion Week, Chloé unveiled its Spring/Summer 2022 collection made in partnership with independent artisans and used upcycled materials and leftover fabrics.

This is part of the new responsibilities of the brand’s recently established sustainability committee, which includes several independent experts and has a roadmap involving the brand, its employees and its partners, including Fair Trade suppliers.

“This certification is the result of more than 18 months of collective work by our teams around the world, staying true to our mission: Women Forward. For a more just future. Rather than the end of a journey, it is a new beginning that will see us commit to continuous improvement,” says the brand.

“We firmly believe that we must take full responsibility for the impact we have on people and the planet, infusing purpose into everything we do, transforming the way we do business and actively participating in building a better world. #BCorp offers us a powerful framework to accelerate and guide this transformation. (…) By becoming a B Corp today, we reinforce our commitment to continually challenge ourselves to use our brand and our company as a force for good,” said Chloé’s CEO. said Chloe CEO Riccardo Bellini.

The brand joins the French club of B Corp certified companies such as Naturalia, Veja or even more recently, Vestiaire Collective, which received its certification last September.
