Breitling improves the services offered to watch collectors by providing for the first time one of its watches with a blockchain digital passport, secured by the Arianee protocol allowing to prove the authenticity and ownership of the watch.

The Swiss luxury watch brand now stands out in the field of blockchain-based innovations with this new feature offered to owners of the Top Time limited edition.

The objective is to improve Breitling’s digital warranty program by linking the warranty directly to the watch through its digital passport and by allowing owners to interact with the brand anonymously and privately if they wish.

The protocol developed by Arianee offers a digital, unalterable and enhanced identity to each product; like any blockchain-based network, it is completely secure and private.

Emmanuelle Collet, co-founder, and Development Director of Arianee says: “We are very happy to welcome Breitling to the Arianee consortium and honored by the strong involvement of Antonio Carriero who will benefit the association from his incredible experience and his vision. We are proud to be able to offer a new way of owning a watch to Top Time customers of Breitling thanks to an enhanced warranty program. This project is a perfect illustration of how our open source protocol can improve existing service programs. Our open source protocol is specifically designed to facilitate the creation and management of digital identities to bring more value to brands and customers.

Breitling is therefore the first watchmaker in the world to offer a blockchain-secured guarantee program. Breitling’s participation in the Arianee consortium and the strong involvement of Antonio Carriero as a new member of the strategic committee underline the brand’s commitment to the development and adoption of this key technology for industry and product owners. luxury.

Antonio Carriero, CDO and CTO of Breitling underlines: “At Breitling, customer engagement is at the heart of everything we do. Technology empowers customers and digital is their daily life. It is up to us to change and keep pace with society. Thanks to Arianee and its blockchain technology, we have the unique opportunity to strengthen the bond with our customers, by offering them the highest level of customer service, while guaranteeing the complete confidentiality of their private data. This is just the beginning, but we are already working on innovative ideas to take more advantage of Arianee to provide complementary services to our customers.

From March 26, 2020, each owner of a limited edition Top Time will benefit from a private and unique digital passport, securely linked to their watch. Scanning the digital warranty card with a smartphone camera allows you to download a private, encrypted digital wallet in which the passport is securely stored.

The passport contains all the details about the watch, including its serial number, and is stamped with an event representing the date of activation of the guarantee at the date of purchase. Only accessible to the owner through the wallet, this passport includes a sharing function which allows the owner to prove the authenticity of the watch and its legitimate property.

This innovative service will allow the transfer of ownership in the event of a later sale of the watch. With this blockchain-based digital passport, owners of Breitling Top Time no longer need to keep paper documents and can trade with the brand as they wish, anonymously.
