Tiffany & Co. and Riot Games have partnered to create the Worlds 2022 Summoner’s Cup trophy for the League of Legends competition. The American jewellery house will become the official trophy designer for one of the world’s most prestigious e-sports competitions.

The sterling silver trophy will weigh nearly 20kg and stand nearly 70cm high. The jewellery house’s skilled craftsmen took four months, or 277 hours, using tools and techniques dating back to the mid-19th century, to pay tribute to the heritage and legacy of Tiffany & Co.

Alexandre Arnault, Executive Vice President, Head of Product and Communications for Tiffany & Co. commented, “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with League of Legends and the opportunity to be part of the evolution of the world’s most popular eSports brand. Creating the Summoner’s Cup is another important moment for Tiffany in eSports and marks an exciting new chapter in our 160-year history of handcrafted sports trophy art.”

Naz Aletaha, Global Director of League of Legends Esports for Riot Games, explains, “The Summoner’s Cup is a symbol of greatness in the world of eSports and the crowning achievement of excellence in League of Legends. The teams that lift it represent the best of our sport – their mastery will forever go down in LoL history. While we wanted to build on the prestige of a World Championship win, only one partner seemed worthy of a collaboration on the Summoner’s Cup. Tiffany is a legendary brand and the leading designer of the world’s greatest sporting trophies. This partnership is a great honour for us, celebrating the history, present and future of World Champions.”

The League of Legends World Championship is making a return to North America and returning to its traditional route. The qualifying rounds will take place from September 29 to October 4 in Mexico City. Then, the group stages from October 7-10 and the quarterfinals from October 13-16 will take place in New York. Finally, the semi-finals will be held on 29 and 30 October in Atlanta and the 2022 World Final will be held in San Francisco on 5 November.
