Alber Elbaz has passed away at the age of 59. The designer who had just launched in Paris AZ Factory, a new way of thinking about luxury, died of the effects of Covid-19, according to Paris Match.
The management and staff of Richemont and AZ Factory confirmed the announcement in an official statement: “It is with shock and enormous sadness that I learned of Alber’s sudden death. Alber had a well-deserved reputation as one of the brightest and most beloved personalities in the industry. I was always impressed by his intelligence, sensitivity, generosity and unbridled creativity. He was a man of exceptional warmth and talent, and his singular vision, sense of beauty and empathy leave an indelible impression,” says Johann Rupert, President of the Board of Directors of the company. says Johann Rupert, President of Richemont.
He continues, “It was a great privilege to observe Alber on his last venture as he strived to realize his dreams of ‘smart and caring fashion. The Israeli-American designer, known for making the house of Lanvin shine for fourteen years, who had recently launched his latest project in partnership with the Richemont Group, AZ Factory, leaves behind a mourning fashion industry.
“Tragic passing of Alber Elbaz, a great fashion designer and a great artist, intensely attached to know-how, wanting innovation of which he understood the full scope and necessity. He had so much talent and also genius. Immense sadness,” reacted on Twitter the executive chairman of the Federation of haute couture and fashion, Pascal Morand.
