CHRISTIE’S : 100 CARAT DIAMOND TO BE SOLD SOON

A Christie’s auction will feature the 100.94 carat star diamond, The Spectacle, on 12 May. The auction will be held at the Four Seasons Hôtel des Bergues in Geneva. Historical and contemporary pieces from the most famous Haute Joaillerie Houses will be offered for sale, to the delight of collectors.

Christie’s, known for its large auctions, is likely to be in the news once again. In particular with the upcoming sale of the white diamond The Spectacle.

A more than exceptional diamond of 100.94 carats, graded D on the diamond purity scale, i.e. perfectly white. This is the best classification for a diamond.

This diamond is also classified IF, meaning Internally Flawless, it has no inclusions and no surface defects. This makes this diamond very rare and exclusive in the eyes of the world. It is estimated to cost between 12 and 18 million dollars, the price of timelessness.

This white diamond was cut in emerald form from a rare rough stone of 207.29 carats. Upstream, the diamond preparation and cutting process took one year and eight months in the Alrosa cutting workshop in Moscow, Russia.

This unique stone was discovered in 2016, in Zarnitsa in the Republic of Sakha located in the north-east of Russia. The very place where The Spectacle was found is the first diamond deposit discovered in Russia, in 1954. A deposit that holds many treasures.

For years, diamonds have become objects of predilection and covetousness, for auctions such as Christie’s, Sotheby’s.
We remember, in 2014, when Christie’s auction house sold the largest blue diamond in the world.

These sales of exceptional diamonds always cause a stir and attract a lot of attention, which can be explained by their rare and exceptional character.
