To celebrate the Chinese New Year, Gucci is presenting a collection of over 80 pieces of ready-to-wear and accessories for men and women, celebrating the Year of the Tiger. Gucci is not stopping there, as a campaign and Pop-Up stores in the US and Canada will be dedicated to the feline.

This Gucci Tiger collection is signed by Gucci’s Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, who wanted to reinterpret different versions of the feline in these creations, blending it with the House of Gucci’s century-old universe and codes.

“In celebration of the holiday, different versions of the animal define a curated selection of ready-to-wear and accessories—highlighting the multifaceted nature of the Gucci universe. Rich with significance for the House, the animal expresses the Creative Director’s fascination with the beauty of nature.”, said Gucci.

The tiger in this collection is an archival design created by Italian artist and illustrator Vittorio Accornero in the late 1960s. He also created Gucci’s signature Flora pattern, which is used in the Gucci Tiger collection.

Many pieces in the collection are covered in the Flora print and tiger motif, including ready-to-wear pieces such as skirts and T-shirts, leather goods, shoes, watches and more. Some designs feature a Gucci Tiger patchwork on many pieces.

Some of the pieces in this collection required hand painting or artisanal crochet and embroidery techniques.

This collection is especially meaningful because in 2020 Gucci joined The Lion’s Share Fund, an initiative to raise funds to address the nature, biodiversity and climate crisis around the world. The initiative is helping to protect 4,000 wild tigers, reduce elephant poaching, improve the welfare of more than 200 million animals and preserve one million hectares of wilderness.

“Nature and wildlife inspire Gucci and are an integral part of the story we tell in our collections and campaigns. We are committed to preserving wildlife,” said Marco Bizzarri, Gucci’s Chairman and CEO.

Gucci is also planning Pop-Up stores in honour of the Year of the Tiger and the Chinese New Year celebration. The Pop-Up will open in Canada on January 14th at Holt Renfrew Yorkdale and on January 17th at Holt Renfrew Vancouver. It will then be available in the United States at the New York Wooster, Chicago Michigan Ave and Las Vegas Forum Shops.

The collection is already available on Gucci’s official website and in shops worldwide.
