Chanel introduces its legendary designer in its latest J12

Chanel continues its exploration of luxury women’s watches. Begun in 1987, with the aim of offering women a watch that is truly designed for them, that flirts with jewellery, it has taken the form of other novelties, presented at the last Watches & Wonders exhibition in Geneva.

Among these, the House of rue Cambon did not hesitate to summon the famous silhouette of Coco Chanel to spice up its three latest limited edition creations (55 pieces each) of the J12. MADEMOISELLE J12 LA PAUSA, MADEMOISELLE J12-XS and J12 GABRIELLE CALIBRE 3.1.

They certainly take up the fundamentals of the J12, launched in 2000, that is to say a modern and elegant style using the House’s fetish colors (black and/or white) and a high-tech ceramic. But in order not to sink into monotony, the J12 also allows itself some fantasy, small cases and other precious stone settings.

In MADEMOISELLE J12 LA PAUSA, the silhouette of the famous designer dressed in a sailor suit and bridge trousers, inspired by a photo taken in her garden in La Pausa, illustrates the black lacquered dial. For the first time, the Mademoiselle J12 watch is equipped with the exclusive, all-black version of Calibre 12.1. This automatic movement was designed and developed for Chanel by the Swiss Manufacture Kenissi.

In the MADEMOISELLE J12-XS, Coco Chanel is embodied by a figure covered in white gold and black lacquer. Wearing a two-tone straw hat punctuated by a brilliant-cut diamond, it clings mischievously to the watch case. This model is also distinguished by its combination of black ceramic, white gold and baguette and brilliant-cut diamonds, its small diameter (19 mm compared to 38 mm for the others) and its high-precision quartz movement. Finally, in the J12 GABRIELLE CALIBRE 3.1, the silhouette of Gabrielle Chanel, dressed in black and adorned with her pearl necklace, is affixed to the dial, in a “precious frame, composed of a white gold bezel set with baguette diamonds”.
