Camille Fournet invites the artist Fabrice Hyber in the context of the “Rencontres équinoxes”

The leather goods house Camille Fournet collaborates with the visual artist Fabrice Hyber and unveiled this week in its Parisian boutique, their exclusive collection.

Camille Fournet has teamed up with artist Fabrice Hyber to create a world of collectibles tinged with the artist’s signature green. Since 2018, the haute maroquinerie house has been exploring its commitment to contemporary art by creating the Équinoxes art programme, which every six months highlights the work of an artist.

When spring is born

For this 6th edition, revealed on March 21st (the day of the spring equinox), Fabrice Hyber was inveted to work on a capsule collection on mobility. “I imagined a futuristic figure, whose bag would have been integrated into the body, having taken the pregnant woman’s belly as a model. I present it in a square, like a gift, poetic, but also a little terrifying… while having thought about the concept of a new accessory” explains the artist.

In addition to the new collection of limited edition bags, belts and bracelets, the Camille Fournet boutique on Rue Cambon features a green character who welcomes visitors. “To create a strong vital sign, I thought green was necessary: the first growth in spring… the life that resists in the meadows even in winter” comments Fabrice Hyber.

But the relationship between Camille Fournet and Fabrice Hyber is not a coincidence. In 1995, he had already designed a swing for Françoise and Jean-Luc Déchery, owners of Camille Fournet and patrons of the company, which he had sheathed in leather in their factory. He had it accompanied by a drawing, the first of which is in the collections of the Centre Pompidou.
