The show must go on for Burberry. The English brand announces that it will present its Spring/Summer 2021 collection during an outdoor show on September 17th.
In the context of the global pandemic, the world fashion calendar has been completely turned upside down. High fashion houses are successively cancelling or postponing their shows. Some of them have announced that they will abandon the traditional calendar to adopt a seasonal approach.
While these international events are being undermined by border restrictions, brands have to rethink when and where it makes sense to invest in a fashion show.
After unveiling its 2020 pre-fall campaign, which examines the notion of duality with pieces such as a camouflage diving suit, a classically elegant bag, a leather jacket, a pink dress with exaggeratedly long sleeves, a quilted comforter or a signature trench coat, Burberry is now emerging as one of the first houses to announce solid plans for the month of September.
A physical fashion show, a measured decision when travel is restricted and discouraged. However, the show will also be available in digital format for fashion players, buyers, the press and general public aficionados who may not have the opportunity to attend.
