The Swiss Manufacture Blancpain announced the winners of its writing competition organised with the Beijing-based publishing house Imaginist at the award ceremony on 9 November. They congratulated author Lin Zhao, who won first prize for his work Chao Xi Tu.
The fifth edition of the Blancpain-Imaginist writing competition, dedicated to promoting Chinese literature, was “From this moment on”. The five judges, Liang Yong’an, Lin Bai, Liu Zheng, Luo Xiang and David Der-wei Wang, deliberated after intense discussions on the day of the award. Jack Liao, Vice-President of Blancpain in China and member of the Executive Board of Swatch Group China, joined the jury to present the first prize to Lin Zhao. The prize was 300,000 yuan (USD 42,400) and a Blancpain timepiece from the Villeret collection.
First prize winner Lin Zhao said: “I would like to thank many people for giving me the opportunity to continue growing. I would like to share the words of the famous Mexican writer Carlos Fuentes as a word of encouragement: before we can own the world, we must first own ourselves.”
The five finalists, Guo Shuang, Huo Xiangjie, Lin Zhao, Wei Sixiao and Zhou Yuyang were all presented with the Young Friend of Blancpain award and a finalist certificate by Jack Liao and Imaginist founder Liu Ruilin. The other four finalists also received a 20,000 yuan (USD 2,800) prize each, to support their creative efforts and encourage them to continue their work.
