On June 6, the house of Balenciaga was parading its spring-summer 2022 collection, entitled “Clones” and which includes a collaboration with the American company Crocs.

The Federation of Haute Couture and Fashion announced that physical runway shows will resume on June 22. “Digital has worked well, but it can’t embody that emotion of the physical,” says Pascal Morand, president of the Federation of Haute Couture and Fashion.

On Sunday, during the online broadcast of the presentation show of the spring-summer 2022 collection of the French house Balenciaga, its artistic director Demna Gvasalia concludes more than a year of digital fashion shows with an audacious show, entitled “Clones“.

Gravitating around the theme of clones, the house stages a surreal fashion show, and the artist Eliza Douglas, dressed in Balenciaga, finds herself cloned several times thanks to a 3D modeling process.

Since the beginning of the sanitary measures related to the pandemic, most of the fashion shows have taken place in digital versions, a real playground, and experimentation for Demna Gvasalia, who joined Balenciaga in 2015.

After having his models travel virtually to the fashion capitals, the artistic director of the house had even presented his mixed fall 2021 collection through a video game

This time, thanks to the technology of deepfake, the face of the artist Eliza Douglas is on that of all the models and gives the impression that she is the only one to parade with the 44 looks of the collection, on the lyrics of the song La Vie en rose, by Edith Piaf

But what has most appealed to Internet users is a collaboration between the house Balenciaga and an American company founded in 2002: Crocs. Indeed, an amazing Crocs shoe with heels was noticed on the catwalk.

This is not the first time that the house of Balenciaga collaborates with the brand Crocs, very popular among a clientele composed mainly of Millenials and young people of Gen Z. After the presentation of its spring-summer 2018 collection, the collaboration around the Crocs “Foam” platform wedges, priced at 680€, is out of stock after a few hours.

In 2017 takes place the first collaboration Crocs x Balenciaga.

This season, Balenciaga revisits the classic pumps, Crocs style. Available in black, grey or green, the shoe takes the shape of the iconic clog that makes Crocs so successful, with heels or booties. Although the release date and price have not yet been announced, the collaboration has already received a lot of reaction from Internet users, especially on Twitter.
