After New York, the Baccarat Hotel brand will move to the Italian capital in 2025.
SH Hotels & Resorts, the hotel brand management company, today announced plans to transform Rome’s landmark Majestic Hotel under the banner of the French luxury house Baccarat.
The future hotel is scheduled to open by the end of 2025, after a complete restoration. The establishment will embody Baccarat’s expertise and enchant the senses with sumptuous ornaments and finishes.
“At Baccarat Hotel Rome, we will revive and restore the glamour and sophistication of an iconic luxury location by offering a level of service and attention to detail that will delight guests and local residents alike,” said Barry Sternlicht, president of SH Hotels & Resorts.
The Baccarat Hotel will be transformed into 83 spacious rooms and suites. The property will feature three large dining rooms, including the main restaurant with a large terrace overlooking Via Veneto, a rooftop bar, state-of-the-art meeting and conference spaces, and a spa and fitness room. While respecting the original exterior architecture, the new design of the space will revamp the original and iconic decor by architect Gaetano Koch.
“We are excited about the transformation of the property into an iconic luxury hotel that resonates with and reflects the artistic, historical and architectural treasures of Rome,” said Liza Masias, co-founder of Boscalt Hospitality.
Overlooking Piazza Barberini and just steps away from the Spanish Steps, The Majestic opened in 1889. This elegant hotel hosted many royalty, nobles, politicians, and celebrities who made it their favorite vacation spot for over a century. Beginning in 1960, after its elegant Bar Ninfa played a role in Federico Fellini’s legendary film “La Dolce Vita” the establishment enjoyed renewed appeal as a symbol of the vibrant and seductive prosperity of post-war Italy.
Under the name Baccarat Hotel Rome, the former Majestic has been reborn and is now back on the tourist map.
