During the General Assemblies of the Conseil National du Cuir and SIC SA on Thursday, June 24, Frank Boehly was re-elected for a third term at the head of the Filière Française du Cuir.
For the third consecutive time, Frank Boehly has been re-elected to head the Conseil National du Cuir (CNC) and SIC SA (Filière Française du Cuir‘s trading company). Thus, since 2014, he represents the 21 federations that are members of the Filière Française du Cuir.
Frank Boehly’s project for the CNC
For his re-election, the President of the Filière Française du Cuir presented the priority axes towards which his project with the CNC is oriented in the coming years. First of all, he commits himself to always defend the interests of the sector with the public authorities, as well as to a better representation of the actors of the leather sector.
In addition, Frank Boehly announces that he will defend the name “leather” even beyond France, the only country in 2019 to have a decree prohibiting the use of the word “leather” to describe alternatives to animal leather. He would now like to bring this decree to the scale of the European Union.
The newly re-elected President also plans to promote the professions and know-how related to leather, particularly among the younger generations. Indeed, the French Leather Industry seeks to “overcome their preconceived ideas about manual trades“, and is therefore “equipped with digital tools to reach a young target“.
Frank Boehly’s project for SIC SA
For the professionals of the trade, Frank Boehly has already proposed, with the SIC SA, an endowment of equity of innovative companies, the organization of trade shows and the creation of the magazine Leather Fashion Design, launched in 2018. Finally, it plans to open a community space in the heart of Paris for players in the fashion and luxury industry.
“The CNC, in its capacity as a professional confederation, accompanied by each of the member federations, has the mission of facilitating the approach of companies in their societal and environmental approach and, as such, many initiatives are implemented by the sector,” expresses Frank Boehly.
“It is therefore essential to listen to and promote dialogue with the entire ecosystem, and in particular with consumers who are increasingly demanding. (…). We also want to make people understand that leather is a natural recycled material and want to highlight all the virtues and qualities of this wonderful material and, first and foremost, its durability,” concludes the President of the Leather Industry.
