LVMH Luxury Ventures, the luxury group’s branch dedicated to investing in emerging brands, has acquired a minority stake in New York-based brand Aimé Léon Doré.
With an undisclosed amount for the moment, the investment of the luxury conglomerate will serve to prepare the ground for the brand to expand internationally. For this purpose, the New York-based brand plans to open a store in London in March.
Founded in Queens, a New York neighborhood in the United States, the brand was thought up in 2014 by creative director and entrepreneur Teddy Santis. Aimé Leon Dore could be defined as a streetwear or urban fashion brand, brimming with ‘preppy’ designs.
The brand offers streetwear basics like graphic t-shirts and hoodies, as well as more sophisticated items like rugby shirts, tailored pants or even Wallabee lace-up shoes.
“LVMH’s vast network of global industry leaders and rich history in growing exceptional and legendary brands provides a truly unique partnership opportunity to fuel Aimé Leon Dore’s next chapter of growth,” founder Teddy Santis said in a statement.
Under the terms of the agreement, Aimé Leon Dore will continue to operate independently out of its New York headquarters, while LVMH will provide support and guidance to the brand.
