For the 2021 edition, the MET Gala has decided to focus on youth and diversity : the four co-presidents will all be under 30 years old. They are the French-American actor Timothée Chalamet, the singer Billie Eilish, the poet Amanda Gorman and the professional tennis player Naomi Osaka.
Due to the news of the global Covid-19 pandemic, the MET Gala was scheduled to take place on the first Monday in May, but has been postponed to 13 September 2021. The annual gala, which raises money for the Anna Wintour Constume Center, had already seen its 2020 edition cancelled.
The MET Gala, also known as “the biggest night in fashion”, will not be limited to one theme this year. This year’s themes are ‘In America : A Lexicon of Fashion’ and ‘In America: An Anthology of Fashion’. The aim of the evening is to honour American fashion over the years.
A great cast
The honorary co-chairs for this year’s event will be Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, designer Tom Ford, and Instagram director and partner Adam Mosseri. They will be accompanied by four promising young people in each of their fields, from sport to song to acting to poetry.
Immersed in the artistic world from an early age and a regular on the red carpets, Timotée Chalamet (25 years old) never stops being talked about, whether it be his looks or his love affairs.

The latest host is Naomi Osaka (23 years old), the second-ranked player on the women’s professional tennis circuit. In January, she announced on her Instagram account that she had become the new ambassador for Louis Vuitton. “I am honoured to be the new ambassador for Louis Vuitton,” she said on social media.
