It’s official : from 1 to 6 September this year, a new international watchmaking exhibition will be held in the Swiss city of Neuchâtel. This is good news for the watchmaking sector, which was in crisis even before the start of the global pandemic. The show is expected to host around 100 exhibitors.
The fair, entitled “Imagination”, was initially planned to take place in Lausanne, but it will finally be located between the Esplanade Léopold-Robert, the Hotel Beaulac and the Museum of Art and History in Neuchâtel. The hotel will be completely privatised, said Carlo Enea Naldi, co-founder of Swiss Creative Events, the organiser of the event.
This new exhibition is based on simplicity and novelty, compared to the existing watch fairs. Under tents in the form of stands, this event wants to highlight all the brands that will be present in a fair manner. “We want to create a friendly show, with zero arrogance, where everyone feels at ease and where the entrance fees are accessible to all, for example so that a worker from Les Brenets can also come”, declared Carlo Enea Naldi.
The municipal councillor of the city of Neuchâtel, Didier Boillat, is delighted that this event is being held in his city. “It’s an opportunity for all the companies, for training, for culture. It is right in front of the museum, so there are really synergies that can be made.”
Given the news of the Covid-19 health crisis, the watch fair will have to be held under strict health conditions and protocol. 15,000 to 20,000 visitors are expected for this September edition. The organizers are also hoping for an upturn in international tourism, so that they can welcome foreign customers.
The “Imagination Art de Vivre” watch fair will be held from 1 to 6 September 2021 in the Swiss city of Neuchâtel.
