Bottega Veneta: a luxury bag for life

The Italian house announced yesterday that a new service would be available mid-November in all its stores: the certificate of craft. That is to say the guarantee to bring his bag at the slightest problem, as many times as necessary and without charge.

Return your luxury bag as many times as you like, for any reason and at no cost? It’s now possible with Bottega Veneta’s new Certificate of Craft service.

Leo Rongone, CEO of the Kering Group-owned label, took advantage of a summit of luxury industry executives organized yesterday in New York by Women’s Wear Daily magazine to unveil this ambitious new project.

For the moment, this new service is only available for a selection of models, among the most famous of which the Kalimero basket, the Knot minaudiere or the Sardine, the new bag in vogue among it-girls. This lifetime guarantee should be extended to other products of the house.

This unique service allows the leather specialist to enhance the know-how of its house as well as build customer loyalty: “This certification is born of the desire to offer our customers a superior service of long-term preservation of their products,” said Leo Rongone, the CEO of the brand.

The leather goods manufacturer, which has taken the gamble of bringing a luxurious simplicity to its leather goods line, without logos or monograms, wants to emphasize the durability and timelessness of its products: “We are focused on responsible growth. Our intention is to keep bags in use longer, reducing the need to replace them.”

While caring for its customers, the brand thus wishes to be eco-responsible, refusing the race for novelty, perpetual renewal and the ephemeral side of luxury. This echoes the collections of the new artistic director of the house, the French Matthieu Blazy, who defends the idea of sustainable clothing as opposed to passing trends.

This information should delight fashionistas. Because yes, buying a luxury bag is supposed to be a long-term investment. But sometimes, the quality doesn’t follow. Some high-end brands already offer an after-sales service to give a second life to your “leather jewel” by offering to clean it in exchange for a few hundred euros.

This new concept proposed by Bottega Veneta is sure to make people happy and put its competitors on the sidelines.
