Kenzo unveils Flower by Kenzo L’absolue, its new eco-friendly fragrance

After the release of Flower by Kenzo in 2000, which has since blossomed on the skins of thousands of people around the world, Kenzo is bringing the poppy back to life in 2022 with Flower by Kenzo L’absolue.

 

This new fragrance explores the heart of the poppy, capturing its strength and fragility. Created by Alberto Morillas, Flower by Kenzo L’absolue plays with a floral bouquet of different scents. Orange blossom, Damask rose and mandarin orange, topped with a traditional final touch of vanilla and white musk, enhance this elegant Absolute.

There is more than a connection between ‘Flower by Kenzo’ and me. It’s a creative journey that we’ve been on for over twenty years,” says Alberto Morillas. “Today, I chose to take this iconic signature to its most intense and sophisticated dimension. I wrote this new interpretation with precious raw materials, in particular saffron, red gold. I also chose Damascena rose, the iconic flower of Flower, but treated for the first time in this family in its absolute form. ‘Flower by Kenzo L’absolue’ is the olfactory illustration of a super poppy bloom,” he continues.

Kenzo is committed to a more beautiful, more responsible and more sustainable world, so it called on Masami Charlotte Lavault to become the icon of the new fragrance Flower by Kenzo L’absolue.

French-Japanese flower grower, the new ambassador shares a common passion with the house: flowers. So it seemed only natural for Kenzo to call on Masami as the new ambassador for its new Flower by Kenzo L’absolue jewel.

 

This ambitious 34-year-old woman has combined her passion for flowers with a desire to make the urban world bloom again. After training in flower farms in Morocco, Japan or Wales, Masami launched in 2017 the Plein Air Paris project, the first urban flower farm in France, a real floral oasis of 1200m² that hosts more than 200 species of flowers.

Kenzo committed to a more responsible world

 

This humanist-based project has gradually come to embody the Slow Flower movement, for the preservation and transmission of knowledge and know-how related to this form of natural floriculture. Thus, it raises awareness of the urgent need to return to a reasonable and environmentally friendly agriculture.

 

Respectful agriculture is the immense challenge of our century because it intervenes in all the fields of our life, food, our clothes, our habitat… I feel in my place when I manage to transmit this idea. But for this principle to become obvious to everyone, ecology must be made irresistible, seductive. And flowers are eminently seductive. One of the keys to achieving this is education,” says Masami Charlotte Lavault.

 

For their shared love of flowers and respect for this precious treasure, this new collaboration makes perfect sense, as does Kenzo’s choice of ecological designer Orin Hardy as its muse for men. Proudly committed to supporting projects that work for a sustainable and responsible world, Kenzo also aims to design fragrances that are ever more respectful of the environment.

 

Without changing its identity or its flagship silhouette, the iconic 100ml bottle has been redesigned with an eco-friendly approach. A minimum of 15% recycled glass was used to create the bottle, while its surlyn cap was slightly shortened to reduce its plastic content by 25%. Finally, its cardboard case, from FSC sustainably managed forests, was printed with bio-sourced vegetable inks, and was optimized to use the right amount of material, as the brand explains in a press release.
