Michael Kirsch appointed head of Porsche China

The current CEO of Porsche Japan, Michael Kirsch, will succeed Jens Puttfarcken and become President and CEO of Porsche China, Hong Kong and Macau on June 1, 2022.

This choice to appoint Michael Kirsch as head of the Asian subsidiary of Porsche is far from trivial. Before joining the Porsche Group in 2012, he spent many years in positions at BMW. He then served as COO of Porsche China until 2016, before being appointed CEO of Porsche Korea the same year, and subsequently of Porsche Japan since 2019.

In his various roles, Michael Kirsch has contributed to the successful development of Porsche in Asia and is the ideal person to take over as CEO of Porsche China – one of our most important markets worldwide. Michael has been very successful, especially when it comes to customer satisfaction and service quality. I am convinced that he will give new strong impulses with many valuable initiatives for the Chinese market and that he will continue to increase the impact of our brand there“, said Detlev von Platen, Member of the Board of Management of Porsche AG in charge of Sales and Marketing.

He will therefore succeed the current CEO of Porsche China, Hong Kong and Macau, Jens Puttfarcken, who has held the position since 2018. The latter has made a significant contribution to the luxury carmaker’s development in China, which has become the brand’s largest single market since 2015.

Jens Puttfarcken has perfectly positioned our brand in China and successfully expanded both the customer base and the dealer network. He has led a dedicated and strong team in China that keeps Porsche always connected and engaged in this dynamic market,” Detlev von Platen continued.

Kirsch’s appointment to this position is not surprising given his long career with the German group, and he will be well suited for the role.
