The AAA Five Diamond Hotel distinction recognizes the Four Seasons Philadelphia for standing out among the 26,000 properties inspected annually by AAA. It is now among the select club of less than 1% of hotels that earn the Five Diamond designation through unscheduled inspections of quality, cleanliness and overall condition.
More than a traditional rating system, Diamond designations reflect the type of experience a hotel offers. For more than 80 years, annual unscheduled hotel inspections have included a detailed review of the quality, cleanliness and condition of the property. Inspections are conducted by qualified experts who evaluate the guest experience based on consistent and objective criteria.

Star ratings are subjective opinions, often left by guests who are motivated by whether they were satisfied or disappointed with some element of their stay. Therefore, any property can have stars, but Diamond designations guarantee the hotel’s standards, so guests will find the service and amenities they expect based on each Diamond level assigned. Among the categories, inspectors look at the quality of decor, amenities such as elevators or access to technology (internet, workspaces…), customer service (concierge, uniforms…) or in-room facilities (mirror, television, towels…).
In North America, there are now nearly 54,000 hotels and restaurants rated from Approved to Five Diamond, based on the quality of the experience, the range of amenities and the level of hospitality that guests can expect.
