Hyundai Motor Group’s luxury brand Genesis said on Thursday that it will no longer produce hydrogen or battery-powered vehicles from 2025. In addition, it has decided to stop producing vehicles with internal combustion engines from 2030 onwards, with a view to achieving its zero-carbon environmental goal.

Chang Jae-hoon, CEO of Hyundai Motor, said that “Genesis will become a 100% zero-emission vehicle brand with 400,000 units sold by 2030” and that “The brand will also become the industry leader in the electric drive era based on sustainability surpassing the image of a luxury brand.”

In the future, Genesis would like to produce and market battery and fuel cell electric vehicles in a range of eight models.

To coincide with the announcement, Genesis unveiled a new 100% electric model, the GV60. This model is a crossover based on the same electric platform with its 800-volt battery system.

Compared to other models of the brand, this vehicle is resolutely elegant and chic, given its noble materials and refined design.

However, Genesis has not yet revealed any details about the GV60’s propulsion system. Its range is expected to be at least 485 km.

In her livestream entitled “Futuring Genesis”, she revealed her vision for the future of the brand and its vehicles, in a sustainable and innovative future.
