For several years, rumors have been circulating about the sale of Bugatti by its parent company Volkswagen. The rumors are growing and suggest that Rimac will take over the brand.

It was last September that information was published indicating that Volkswagen would consider selling its luxury brand Bugatti to another manufacturer. According to Automotive News, Oliver Blume, the group’s board member and Porsche‘s CEO, is about to make an announcement on the subject very soon, and the Croatian group Rimac is the one that would be concerned.

Rimac is a company specialized in electric hypercars. The company is known for its Concept One electric sports car and more recently with the release of the Rimac Automobili Nevera.

The rumors around this joint venture have also increased following the decision not to add the Gabilier model to the range. A clear indication that the group did not want to invest further in Bugatti.

“Brands fit well with technology”

As a reminder, Porsche holds 15.5 percent of Rimac‘s shares. By selling Bugatti, this would allow the Volkswagen Group to increase its share in the capital of the Croatian manufacturer, while remaining a minority shareholder.

Oliver Blume had already told the German newspaper Automobilwoche that “At the moment, there are intense discussions about how Bugatti can be developed in the best way. “According to the CEO, “Rimac could have a role because the brands fit the technology well.

The next few days will be decisive for Bugatti and the German Volkswagen Group.
