In an interview with the Financial Times, Aston Martin’s new boss confirmed that one or more electric models would be produced as early as 2025, and that these would be manufactured in the UK.

Lawrence Stroll, the new boss of luxury carmaker Aston Martin, has spoken to the UK magazine and announced that a hybrid version of the DBX will be launched this year, with more to follow from 2023, before offering the first all-electric SUV from 2025, in line with the end of the DBX’s career.

The SUV will be produced at St Athan in Wales alongside the DBX and according to Lawrence Stroll would be launched around the same time as a “DB11 equivalent”, in electric. in electric form.

Another electric model was also mentioned, more precisely a sporty model, which will be manufactured in the Gaydon factory.

The platform, bodywork and suspension will all be from Aston Martin. Everything except the engines and batteries, which will come from Mercedes. This is already the case for the V8 and the transmissions found on the Vantage or the DBX.

“We are far ahead of our competitors thanks to our partnership with Mercedes,” which owns 20 percent of the British carmaker, Lawrence Stroll told the Financial Times about electrification.

It has also been revealed that this electrification could change the name of Aston Martin models, which would no longer bear the two letters “DB”.

After one, or more, complicated years for Aston Martin, the manufacturer’s boss intends to make up for lost time and participate in the UK’s energy transition, a country that will ban the sale of petrol and diesel cars from 2030.
