On Monday, February 1, L’Oréal announced in a press release the completion of its acquisition of Takami-Co. This had been previously announced on December 23rd when the agreement was signed. No amount was disclosed.

As a reminder, the Takami brand was created in 1999 and generated sales of around 50 million euros in 2019. It is omnipresent in Japan and Asian countries, particularly China, and specializes in premium skin care products. The products are created by Dr. Hiroshi Takami, developed and marketed under license by the Japanese company Takami Co.

The doctor is also the founder of the two eponymous dermatological clinics in Tokyo. In December, L’Oréal announced the renewal of its trademark license agreement with him for a very long period, as well as its intention to sign a collaboration agreement with the clinics.

“We are very pleased to welcome Takami’s employees to L’Oréal Luxury, and look forward to pooling our expertise to further grow the brand,” said Cyril Chapuy, Managing Director of L’Oréal Luxury.

With this acquisition, the company significantly strengthens its position in Asia.
