The German car manufacturer Daimler today announced its desire to increase its sales figures by unveiling the next ranges of Mercedes-Benz luxury vehicles and the highlighting of its sub-brands.

Headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, the Daimler group has declared its intention to double its vehicle sales, notably on Mercedes-Benz and Maybach models. An announcement that had already been made on this subject at the last digital conference on October 6th 2020 in Stuttgart, bringing together all the group’s analysts and investors.

After having sold nearly 12,000 vehicles in 2019, the German brand wishes to further improve its results and on this occasion unveiled a new vehicle from the manufacturer Maybach, based on the design of its Mercedes-Benz S Class limousine, at a price of 173,000 dollars. An important and profitable project for the group, which also intends to add an option of champagne flutes made of silver, estimated at 3,200 dollars. The group could obtain more than $250,000 thanks to this new option.

During the digital conference on October 6, Daimler particularly insisted on its will to reduce, or even stop, all production of sedan models in the United States and to bet on its SUV models, representing, according to the group, a better profitability. With this decision, the German manufacturer intends to promote its submarines, such as Maybach, and to manufacture new ranges with electric variants. This announcement was made directly by Ola Källenius, Daimler’s managing director and chairman of the board of directors of Daimler and Mercedes-Benz, during the virtual presentation of the new model.

The aim is to revive the growth of the group, which suffered heavy losses this year, to make its vehicle sales profitable thanks to the AMG and Maybach brands, and to conquer the electrification market.

The German manufacturer is aware of the new stakes in the automotive market, and therefore wishes to strengthen its position in the luxury vehicle segment, and in particular to become one of the leading players in the total electrification market. A step which has already been taken by the luxury car brand Bugatti.

To do this, the group targets markets where the consumption of luxury products is high, such as China, by exporting its electric EQ models as well as its G Class models to meet the “adventure” needs of consumers.

“We have not yet reached our full potential in terms of turning success in volume into profit growth. This is why we have refocused and are launching our new strategy. We need to leverage our strengths as a luxury brand to increase economic value and improve the composition and positioning of our product portfolio. We will unleash the full potential of our unique sub-brands – AMG, Maybach, G and EQ.” said Ola Kallenius at the conference.
