Roberto Cavalli’s CEO, Gian Giacomo Ferraris, will retire by the end of 2020.
Last year, the brand passed into the hands of DICO, the group owned by businessman Hussain Sajwani, who bought it from Clessidra for an unreported amount.
Gian Giacomo Ferraris himself announced his decision in a letter to the brand’s employees, in which he confesses to having “contrasting feelings, which give him some satisfaction, but also a little sadness and some regrets”. He continued: “I have assured Mr. Sajwani that I will do my best to ensure the continuity of the management during a transitional phase and I thank each of you for your availability to accompany me within the brand until the end of the year. ”
“Unfortunately, as you all know, despite my constant and relentless commitment, we have not been able to secure the financial resources necessary to continue our efforts in 2019. Instead of investing to renew the store network and support brand repositioning through appropriate marketing and communications campaigns, investments in partnerships with celebrities and personalities and digital communications, we have been faced with a financial restructuring,” said Cavalli’s CEO.
Gian Giacomo Ferraris has been at the leadership of Roberto Cavalli since his succession to Renato Semerari in 2016. But in recent years, the brand has been facing a complicated financial situation that it is struggling to overcome. In April, the Italian house announced the closure of all Cavalli stores in North America, as well as senior management departures.
