For the 24th edition of its “Hot List”, the magazine specialized in luxury tourism Condé Nast Traveler published on Wednesday, May 5th its traditional rankings of the best hotels and cruises in Europe for the year 2020. Among the 23 big winners, France is proudly represented with no less than six hotels listed.

These are the absolute best of the best; the game-changing, boundary-pushing, and vacation-making openings to get you dreaming.

It is in these words that the prestigious American magazine Condé Nast Traveler presented its list of the 23 best new hotels in Europe on Wednesday, May 5th, on the occasion of its 24th edition.

And France remains the undisputed leader in this field.

France, with its irresistible art of living and its hotels-palaces that rhyme with luxury and delight, has indeed prevailed with no less than six selected hotels, including three in Paris – the Cour des Vosges, the J.K. Place and the Monsieur George Hotel & Spa, one in Saint Tropez – the Cheval Blanc, one in the Grand-Lucé – the Hôtel Château du Grand-Lucé, and one in the heart of the Meribel ski resort – the Hôtel Le Coucou.

France was closely followed by Italy, its neighbour and main competitor, with five Condé Nast Traveler-approved hotels, two of which are located in Rome, one in Venice, one in Blevio and one in Ischia.

Greece and Portugal are also at the top of the ranking among the winners, with three hotels listed each.

The famous magazine also crowned Norway, Spain, Switzerland and Sweden with one grand hotel nominated in each country.

This list was published despite the current context, which does not lend itself to it, with the suspension of international travel and the historic crisis that the tourism industry is going through.

“In 24 years of putting together this compendium of the latest and greatest industry openings, we’ve never published it in a year like this.” said the magazine. “Many on this list have had to, at least temporarily, close their newly opened doors. Even still, we are proud to unveil this selection of the 23 best new hotels in Europe. We know that right now you’re probably wondering when you’ll be able to take your next trip. When you do, we encourage you to use these exceptional openings and launches as your guide.”

All we have to do now is wait impatiently for the end of the containment period to finally raise anchor !
