New collaboration for Supreme
After the North Face, Comme des Garçons and Lacoste, Supreme is embarking on a new collaboration. Today, the streetwear giant invites Jean Paul Gaultier to infuse his pure luxury DNA into a Supreme branded collection: “I have been integrating sportswear touches into my collections since the beginning of my brand,” Jean Paul Gaultier said in an interview with Vogue.
“It was one of my inspirations and obsessions, I even created the “Junior Gaultier” line at the end of the 80s. With Supreme, this inspiration will touch a new generation: “A faux fur checkered coat, pants tattooed with a “Fuck racist” mantra, a logotype belt, a striped blazer jacket… The duo plays the unisex card by juxtaposing male and female aesthetic codes.
The Supreme x Jean Paul Gaultier collection is scheduled for April 11, 2019 in stores and on Supreme’s e-shop.
Carine Roitfeld appointed style advisor at Karl Lagerfeld
It’s official, the former editor-in-chief of Vogue has been appointed Karl Lagerfeld’s style advisor. A position she will hold for the next three seasons and the first collection she will work on is the Spring/Summer 2020 collection.
Karl Lagerfeld had already begun the creative reflection around it and had chosen the Bauhaus style as his guiding principle.” I am honored and grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Karl for so many years (…) He will always be a legend, who redefined the notions of fashion, photography and celebrity.
It is an honour to collaborate with the brand that bears his name as a style consultant, to spread his iconic vision over the next three seasons,” said the woman who will propose next September a collection that she had previously co-signed with the designer, named “The Edit“, while Pier Paolo Righi says: “We already have a design team that has been appointed by (the designer), including creative director Hun Kim, chosen by Karl Lagerfeld himself. With Carine Roitfeld’s talent as a style consultant, we will celebrate and bring Karl’s iconic aesthetic style to life.”
The Louis Vuitton Cruise Show will take place in JFK Airport
Louis Vuitton’s artistic director of women’s ready-to-wear, Nicolas Ghesquière, announced the information this Monday on his Instagram account.” My next Louis Vuitton cruise parade will take place in the iconic TWA Flight Center terminal at JFK Airport on May 8,” he said under a photo of the building, designed by the great Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen, the terminal is a masterpiece of neo-futurist architecture.
Inaugurated in 1962, one year after the architect’s death, this building of nearly 20,000 square metres, with its wing-shaped roof and large bay windows, bears witness to the American optimism of the Glorious Thirty, when technological progress made it possible to freely celebrate the new joys of large-scale travel.
This site is perfectly in line with Nicolas Ghesquière’s strategy, who has developed the habit of presenting his cruise collections within legendary architectural structures.
