Mercedes Cadillac announces electric car push
The world’s leading luxury car manufacturer with nearly 2.24 million cars sold worldwide in 2017, Mercedes built itself a reputation of reliability. After entering the third millennium, which saw the automotive inventor group move behind its eternal rival, BMW, Mercedes has diversified with its compact and SUV models. It now represents 34% of Mercedes’ sales worldwide. The brand is able to adapt to market demand since 40% of its models are now compact (AB) or medium-sized (Class C).
After renewing its A-Class and its wear-resistant 4WD G-Class this summer, Mercedes will launch a sedan version of the A-Class, awaiting the CLA (four-door coupé) and its station wagon version. These new features meet the demand for affordable models. The Stuttgart star is not forgetting luxury with the arrival of the AMG GT four-door coupé and the AMG Project One supercar, 300 of which are due to be launched this year.
By 2025, Mercedes announces that 50% of its range will be electrified, either more than 130 different models. The brand announces the development of plug-in hybrid models (including diesel) and the launch of a 100% electric range, called Mercedes EQ. At the end of 2019, the compact of the range, which will be a version of the A-Class, will be manufactured in the Daimler Group’s French factory in Hambach, Moselle.
Kaia Gerber new muse for Jimmy Choo
Jimmy Choo, a famous luxury shoemaker, called on the American model Kaia Gerber, who is none other than the daughter of the famous Cindy Crawford, to put her spring-summer 2019 collection in the spotlight. The brand has just unveiled the first pictures of the campaign on social networks.
After participating in the campaigns of Stella McCartney and Fendi, among others, the young woman who is only 17 appears in Jimmy Choo’s new communication.
Among the creations highlighted are the “RAINE” sneakers, calf leather and metallic nappa leather sneakers decorated with sequins, but also one of the “ANNABELL” models, pointed-toe pumps in metallic silver leather.
Rolls Royce: record number of cars sold in 2018
Rolls-Royce sold exactly 4,107 cars in more than 50 countries in 2018, while in 2017, the company had only sold 3,362 cars.
The prestigious British luxury car brand reported a big increase in sales in 2018, the highest in the 115-year history of the manufacturer, owned by German BMW.
These figures confirm that the luxury sector is challenging a pressurized automotive market, particularly in Europe with the disaffection with diesel and the uncertainties of Brexit.
The manufacturer, which is highly prized by the British high society, points out that its growth is largely due to the success of the Phantom, whose new model began to be delivered in early 2018. The Ghost model remains the best-selling model of the brand. Its models are among the most expensive in the world since it costs 250,000 euros for a Ghost and around 450,000 euros for a Phantom.
