Boucheron reopens its mythical boutique
Boucheron, the first jeweller to have settled in the legendary Place Vendôme, is celebrating its 160th anniversary with a completely renovated shop/workshop turned towards light, a symbol of its ambition to accelerate its international development.
After 18 months of work, Boucheron, the jewellery house owned by the Kering group, reopens to the public. With its 7 metres high ceiling and its carved walnut panels mixing styles and periods in the rooms and living rooms, contemporary furniture alongside antique objects.
“More than just a boutique, the 26, Vendôme is the backbone of Boucheron because we also have our production workshops for fine jewellery and our design studio. The objective was to restore the building to its former glory and its original volumes,” summarized AFP Hélène Poulit-Duquesne.
Claire Choisne, the only woman at the head of a great French jeweller, forms with her Creative Director: “a duo of women after four generations of Boucheron men“.
It should be noted that Boucheron has tripled in size since its acquisition by Kering in 2000 “and the investments are made for the future of the company and its international development“, says Claire Choisne.
Aston Martin teams up with Waldorf Astoria Hotels
Aston Martin and Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Resorts, the luxury hotel chain belonging to the Hilton Group, announced the signing of a four-year partnership to promote the image of both brands at the same time.
Customers staying at one of the many Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts around the world will be able to enjoy one of the latest models in the Aston Martin range for a few hours or a few days, and also benefit from the brand new “Waldorf Astoria Driving Experiences” programme which will be launched next year.
This programme will offer “discovery” weekends based on several Aston Martin models that can be tested on courses selected for their landscape and variety, services that will be organised in collaboration with professional drivers from the Aston Martin team.
Special events organized for selected guests will be offered at international events such as the 2019 Le Mans 24 Hours (June 15-16) or the Pebble Beach Elegance Competition in California (August 18).
Chanel decorates a Christmas tree for the Majestic Hotel in Barcelona
The Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona ends the year in style, with a Chanel fir tree in its entrance hall. It is the first Christmas tree created by the Chanel brand for a hotel in the world. This is the successful conclusion of this year, during which the school celebrates its 100th anniversary.
The sparkling snow-covered Christmas tree, decorated with a multitude of white, gold and red pastilles, sits in the legendary establishment until January 6, to the delight of its customers and visitors alike.
A fashionable and elegant attraction, with which the legendary 5-star Barcelona star will culminate in 2018, the year of its centenary, marked by many new features, including a new locavore restaurant – the SOLC – and the launch of two Miro experiences that will allow you to discover more intimately and exclusively the work of this artist whose career path is closely linked to the Majestic.
Dior dedicates a book to the work of Gianfranco Ferré
After Christian Dior himself, Yves Saint Laurent, and Marc Bohan, it was the turn of the Italian designer Gianfranco Ferré, artistic director of Dior from 1989 to 1996, to have a book published by the French company. The book highlights the style, creative sense and know-how of the Italian designer, and reviews his history with Dior.
The book looks back at Gianfranco Ferré’s career as artistic director of Dior, from his first haute couture collection unveiled in 1989 to his departure in 1996. In addition to his preferred style, which gives pride of place to boldness, exceptional materials, voluptuous cuts and colour, his common features with Christian Dior are also highlighted, including their taste for masculine-feminine, flowers and red hues.
