Automobili Pininfarina unveiled its latest model at Monterey Car Week, the international classic car show in the United States…and not the least. The new Barchetta B95 is an electric hypercar with an elegant design and remarkable capabilities!

Monterey Car Week, the prestigious international automotive event dedicated to classic cars, has always been the place to showcase automotive excellence. However, this year’s edition, held from August 11 to 20, marks the beginning of an exciting new era in the world of hypercars.

Automobili Pininfarina, the automotive brand renowned for its association with luxury and quality craftsmanship, is writing an exciting new chapter in its history by unveiling the world’s first all-electric, open-top Barchetta hypercar, the sensational B95. This revolutionary creation not only re-evaluates performance and design, but also pays tribute to the rich heritage of classic racing cars. This exclusive hyper Barchetta shares center stage with other Automobili Pininfarina wonders, such as the hyper GT Battista Edizione Nino Farina and the recently unveiled PURA Vision design concept.

This is the most exciting chapter in Automobili Pininfarina’s history, as we take another leap forward,” said Paolo Dellachà, CEO of Automobili Pininfarina. “Today, our new Barchetta implements (…) a retro-futuristic vision combining the spirit of classic motorsports with technological innovations, cutting-edge materials and processes.”

Handcrafted production and the first deliveries of this limited-edition masterpiece will begin in 2025, celebrating 95 years of Pininfarina SpA. Hence the 95 in the name B95, the “B” standing for Barchetta’s initial.

Only ten examples of this car will be built. Each will be meticulously designed by Automobili Pininfarina’s Cambiano-based design team, in collaboration with customers, to guarantee absolute exclusivity and ensure that no two models are identical. The superb demonstration model to be presented at Monterey Car Week has been created by Automobili Pininfarina’s design team and will be handcrafted in Cambiano by a team of Pininfarina SpA artisans.

PURA-inspired design

The B95’s design materializes through a body that extends across the entire width and wraps around the front fenders. The high matrix line gives the exterior bodywork an impressive muscularity. Seen from the inside, it provides a feeling of safety and comfort, while establishing a connection between occupants and their environment.

The pronounced wheel arches accentuate the vehicle’s shape and power, while allowing the design team to strengthen the connection with the car’s sides, controlling reflections on the bodywork and adding depth and quality to the aesthetics. When viewed from above, the PURA design DNA is immediately apparent. In the absence of side windows, Automobili Pininfarina’s design team conceived the interior space around a loop enveloping the seats, the double adjustable aeroscreen and the domes located behind each passenger. From here, four clean lines define the essence of the B95, linking it intimately to the PURA Vision concept.

“Purity is at the heart of the PURA aesthetic philosophy,” said Dave Amantea, Design Director at Automobili Pininfarina. “It is the hallmark of the vehicles that are emblematic of Pininfarina’s history, with their timeless designs. The silhouette of the Barchetta is instantly recognizable, but it was up to us to sublimate it. The combination of classic proportions and refined details enabled us to create something truly unique. With the B95, our customers can live a dream, and that’s what will define our brand in the future.”

The sculptural carbon fiber dashboard and durable tan luxury leather upholstery create a sense of harmony and elegance. The seats, which draw their inspiration from classic racing cars, hug the occupants, offering both comfort and protection. Unique aluminum inserts and luxury textile headrests with houndstooth pattern add a touch of exclusivity.

Powerful beast

The B95 draws its strength from a state-of-the-art powertrain offering astounding performance, inspired by the Battista hyper-GT, but with a specific adjustment for this extraordinary vehicle. In addition to accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2 seconds, the B95 reaches a top speed of over 300 km/h.

The first 100% electric hyper-Barchetta features a high-capacity lithium-ion battery, up to 120 kWh, producing a peak power of 1,900 hp. The T-shaped, liquid-cooled battery is protected by a lightweight, robust carbon-fiber casing. It can be charged using fast DC chargers of up to 270 kW, enabling it to go from 20% to 80% charge in just 25 minutes.

Power is distributed to each wheel via four independent high-performance electric motors. Five driving modes – Calma, Pura, Energica, Furiosa and Carattere – allow you to adjust driving dynamics. These modes can be selected by means of a sporty, tactile dial located close to the steering wheel.

Cutting-edge research

The B95 draws on decades of experience and expertise from Automobili Pininfarina’s engineering and manufacturing team in Italy. Conceived, designed and perfected in Italy, it incorporates cutting-edge technologies developed at Automobili Pininfarina’s digital innovation center in Germany.

Automobili Pininfarina currently employs 116 people at its engineering site in Cambiano, Italy, and at its innovation center in Munich, Germany. These teams, made up of over 20 different nationalities, draw on their international expertise and experience to shape a new era in electric mobility.
