Clé de Peau Beauté, the Shiseido Group’s luxury skincare and make-up brand, presented its revolutionary skincare science at a three-day global event. The event was also marked by the inauguration of Refik Anadol’s immersive art installation “Unseen Intelligence”.
Clé de Peau Beauté, the luxury skincare and make-up brand belonging to the Shiseido Group, held a global event in Tokyo, Japan, from June 26 to 28. The occasion was to celebrate and unveil the brand’s revolutionary scientific approach to skincare, called “Cutaneous Intelligence”.
“I’m proud to present our unwavering commitment to innovation through Cutaneous Intelligence to beauty experts around the world”, said Mizuki Hashimoto, Clé de Peau Beauté Brand Manager. “Thanks to our unique approach, we have consolidated our position as industry pioneers, redefining the future of skincare. I’m thrilled by the limitless possibilities that lie ahead for a brighter future.”
Guests from over 18 countries gathered alongside two Clé de Peau Beauté ambassadors, Ella Balinska and Diana Silvers. They came to witness an exclusive revelation: the visual representation of the skin’s gene network, unveiled for the first time at the Shiseido Global Innovation Center in Yokohama. This network operates independently of the neural network that feeds the brain, and is made up of an internal collective.
“It was a privilege for us to welcome so many beauty experts from around the world to our laboratories, where, for the first time ever, we unveiled a successful visualization of the skin’s gene network, which greatly enhanced our understanding of the skin’s inherent intelligence”, emphasized Kiyoshi Sato, Clé de Peau Beauté’s Director of Technology.
Artistic collaboration
In addition, the event featured a visionary collaboration with renowned media artist Refik Anadol. Anadol’s immersive installation, entitled “Unseen Intelligence”, is located in Tokyo Midtown’s Roppongi district. Anadol applies his innovative approach to data storytelling to imagine the hidden world of skin.
“Refik Anadol Studio’s collaboration with Clé de Peau Beauté is based on a unique analogy between skin intelligence and artificial intelligence with a view to making the invisible visible – a vision we have pursued since our founding”, commented the collaborating artist. “The scientists at Clé de Peau Beauté study the forces of life that are invisible – the invisible networks of our organ of thought – the skin.”
“Cutaneous intelligence”
Since its creation in 1982, Clé de Peau Beauté has been committed to deepening understanding of Cutaneous Intelligence.
Cutaneous Intelligence is the skin’s innate ability to distinguish between positive and negative stimuli in order to maintain an optimal state of the epidermis.
Clé de Peau Beauté is constantly developing new technologies that support the skin as a “thinking” organ, reinforcing its repair and defense capacities to enhance its innate ability to take care of itself.
