Audi has recently developed a revolutionary new concept car, the Skysphere, which is both autonomous and fully electric. The renowned brand with the emblematic four rings, known for its technological prowess, never ceases to innovate.

A tribute to the Grand Touring cars of the 1920s-30s. That’s what the new model from German brand Audi is all about. Presented at the beginning of the year and exhibited at the Vivatch show a few days ago, the model, entitled Audi Skysphere, is more of a futuristic concept. It uses revolutionary technologies to redefine the Grand Touring experience.

With its expressive design, including a long hood, angled doors and slimmed-down headlamps, the Audi Skysphere reveals an assertive personality. The rounded roof and hood give it a sleek, elegant finish. The intricately designed star-shaped wheels don’t go unnoticed either. With a length of 5.35 meters, Audi’s latest vehicle is further distinguished by its original trunk and comfortable seats.

But the big news is that this concept car is two cars in one. The variable-geometry model can be transformed inside and out at the touch of a button. The aim is to go from an autonomous car without a dashboard to a sporty model!

100% autonomous

Powered by a 530Kw (710) 100% electric motor, this car can reach remarkable speeds. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just over 4 seconds.

The new Audi Skysphere has been designed to establish a solid relationship of trust between driver and vehicle. When the steering wheel is released, it can be stowed away in the dashboard, and the car continues on its way without a hitch. Featuring an integrated camera that acts like a prescriber, Audi’s Skysphere analyzes imperfections on the road using GPS topographical data, automatically providing all relevant information.

Although this is a concept car not yet in production, this level of autonomy is not yet authorized in Europe. According to the experts, however, this will not be long in coming.

Electric model

Of course, there’s no longer any question of using petrol or diesel, which lead to increasingly exorbitant fuel costs and an unacceptable and criticized carbon footprint. The new model is therefore 100% electric and made from sustainable materials.

Audi’s new jewel is capable of recovering 80% of its range in less than 25 minutes, thanks to a quick charge via a super charger. What’s more, thanks to its extra-long wheelbase, its 23-inch wheels are positioned at all four corners of the body, reducing overhangs. All this is made possible by the active suspension, which raises or lowers each wheel in milliseconds to reduce body roll.
