The luxury goods company Van Cleef & Arpels will invest in the opening of two new manufacturing sites in the Drôme and Puy-de-Dôme regions by 2026. This will create approximately 600 new jobs in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

A great deal for the French jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels but also for the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The subsidiary of the Richemont luxury group will open two new manufacturing sites in the Drôme and Puy-de-Dôme regions by 2026.

The Drôme workshop will be dedicated to jewelry, on a 2.5 hectare site located in the “Porte du Vercors” business park in Châteauneuf-sur-Isère. It will consist of a building to house the artisans, their support functions and a training incubator. The latter will strengthen the partnership between Van Cleef & Arpels and the Amblard high school in Valence.

The Puy-de-Dôme workshop will be dedicated to the jewelry business and will be located near Thiers, on the site of the former Rexo factory. Several new buildings will be constructed on the site, to house spaces for training, production, employee services, and a nursery.

“The company’s decision to locate a jewelry manufacturing unit in Romans-sur-Isère and a jewelry manufacturing unit in Dorat, near Thiers, is a source of great pride for our region, which is the second largest region in France in terms of the number of jobs and companies in the jewelry industry”, said the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, which supported the luxury goods company’s move to the region.

In total, the French jewelry group, with locations in Paris, Lyon and Geneva, will invest 55 million euros in these two new establishments.

More than 600 new jobs

The creation of these new workshops reinforces Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes’ position as the second largest region in France in terms of the number of jobs and companies in the jewelry and goldsmithing industry. Each will be able to “accommodate at least 250 employees, in order to create strong synergies between the different production sites”, the region explained in a statement released Wednesday.

With the two new sites, “in all, more than 600 direct jobs will be created, Van Cleef & Arpels said Thursday.

“The choice of Van Cleef & Arpels was supported by the region’s long tradition of manufacturing excellence, particularly in the leather, shoe and leather goods sectors”, the jeweler added.
