The German automaker reported higher sales in the first quarter, thanks in part to electric vehicles and premium cars.2023
Mercedes, in the green since last year, continues to align good performances. After already increasing its sales by 5% to 2 million vehicles and its net profit by 34% in 2022, the figures continue to climb in 2023.
During the first quarter of 2023, global sales thus increased by 3% to 503 500 vehicles. Europe shows the strongest growth with +8%.
Electric vehicles were the main growth driver, with sales almost doubling to more than 51,000 cars.
The other very dynamic segment is the premium segment, which includes iconic models such as the AMG, Maybach and G-Class. It posted solid growth of 18% to 91,800 vehicles for the period.
Sales of the Mercedes Benz Vans division, which includes the brand’s light commercial vehicles, increased by 12 percent in the quarter to 98,900 vehicles. This is the best result ever recorded for a first quarter.
These strong results are all the more noteworthy against a backdrop of supply chain disruptions and geopolitical uncertainties.
Last February, the company said it remains cautious about 2023.
