LVMH : Laurent Mignon (Wendel) could join the board of directors

French luxury goods company LVMH has announced in a statement that it is considering appointing Laurent Mignon, the chairman of Wendel’s management board, to the board of directors. The appointment of the businessman will be subject to a vote at the Annual General Meeting.

 

The LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton group announced yesterday that it will propose the appointment of a new member to the Board of Directors at its next General Meeting on April 20.

 

The new member will be Laurent Mignon, Chairman of Wendel’s Management Board since December 2, 2022. With the Wendel family as its core shareholder, Wendel is one of the leading listed investment companies in Europe, operating at the crossroads of industry and finance.

 

Laurent Mignon’s appointment will first have to be approved by the LVMH Board of Directors in a vote. He would succeed Diego Della Valle, the CEO of the Italian fashion house Tod’s. The latter, who did not wish to renew his mandate, will become censor.

 

An eloquent curriculum vitae

 

A graduate of HEC in 1986 and of the Stanford Executive Program, Laurent Mignon began his career with the bank lndosuez, before joining the bank Schroders in London in 1996. In 1997, he joined Assurances Générales de France, the subsidiary of Allianz, as Chief Financial Officer, before becoming Deputy Chief Executive Officer in 2002, and finally Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Executive Committee in 2006. From 2007 to 2009, he was a managing partner at Oddo & Cie.

 

Before joining Wendel, Laurent Mignon worked for Groupe BPCE from 2009 to 2022 as Chief Executive Officer of Natixis. He was appointed member of the General Management Committee of BPCE from 2009 to May 2018, and Chairman of the Management Board from May 2018 to December 2022.

 

Today, in addition to his functions within the Wendel Group, Laurent Mignon is also Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bureau Veritas and sits on the Board of Directors of Arkema and AROP (Association pour le rayonnement de l’Opéra National de Paris). He is also a censor of Oddo BHF.
