The LVMH Prize Young Fashion designers Award is the opportunity of a lifetime for these young talents. For the ninth edition, 1,900 candidates from 110 countries tried their luck but only twenty were selected to participate in the 2022 semi-final.

The twenty selected candidates come from the four corners of the globe : Belgium, Canada, China, France, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Nigeria, South Korea, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States and, for the first time since the creation of the competition, Sri Lanka.

Once selected, the twenty semi-finalists will present their collections and their universes during a fashion show in Paris from 4 to 5 March, to allow the expert jury of the fashion sector to select eight of them. The public can also vote for their favourite candidate using the dedicated lvmhprize.com platform.

The twenty brands selected for the semi-final are : Airei, Amesh, Ashlyn, Bluemarble, Chenpeng, ERL, Goomheo, KNWLS, Maximilian, Meryll Rogge, Niccolo Pasqualetti, Palomo Spain, Paula Canovas Del Vas, Roisin Pierce, RYUNOSUKEOKAZAKI, S.S Daley, Tokyo James, Weinsanto, Winnie New York, Yueqi Qi.

“The twenty semi-finalists are driven by an optimistic and innovative vision. They all place eco-responsibility at the heart of their creative approach with the use of recycled materials, upcycling, etc. They are also very keen on integrating a more ethical production system, while some place the spotlight on local and traditional know-how. The fluidity of womenswear and menswear is another key feature of this edition.”, comments Delphine Arnault, Deputy Managing Director of Louis Vuitton.

“I am also very pleased to welcome new and inspiring personalities who will be joining our prestigious Committee of Experts this year: Camille Charrière, Eva Chen, Ben Cobb, Pierre A. M’Pelé, Mel Ottenberg, Julia Sarr-Jamois, Cindy Sherman and Eugénie Trochu. I would like to warmly thank all of our Experts who contribute each year to making the LVMH Prize a benchmark for young designers. All this promises an exceptional 2022 edition.”,  adds Delphine Arnault.

At the end of the competition, the winning candidate receives a grant of 300,000 euros and benefits from a year of customized mentoring by a dedicated LVMH team.

The Karl Lagerfeld Prize also rewards a young designer with a grant of 150,000 euros and a year of mentoring. Finally, the Prize recognizes three students graduating from fashion schools in 2022, each receiving 10,000 euros. The winning graduates will join the design studio of one of the LVMH companies for one year. They can apply on the lvmhprize.com website until March 15, 2022.
